Responsibilities

The Deputy Director of Communications will help enhance the ITF’s position as the global voice of transport workers by leading on strategic thinking and delivering integrated organisation-wide communications strategies that have clear and measurable priorities and objectives.

The role will support and deputise for the Director of Communications to build high-impact communications in support of ITF’s key areas of focus including sustainability, safety, digitalisation and the future of work, supply chain accountability, equality and rights. The Deputy Director will be a linchpin in the team, with extensive skills for matrix-team working and experience driving a culture of collaboration and respect, which will be fundamental to working across the ITF’s industrial, regional and departmental teams.

The Deputy Director will be critical in supporting the identification and further development of cross-sectoral communications opportunities for ITF’s existing global focus areas, as well as identifying emerging opportunities to build proactive communications strategies around.

Your role will lead on engagement with the Women and Youth transport workers departments, ensuring that their priorities are fed into sectoral work and vice versa. Your role will also lead engagement and capacity building with regional communications staff. Critical to the role, will be working with direct reports to shape coherent, high-impact global communications strategies, that are informed by and inform sectoral, departmental and regional priorities.

This role will be responsible for developing coherent, high-impact communications strategies that bring together the diverse work delivered by teams across the organisation. It will require strong leadership skills that enhance collaboration within the communications team, and across the wider ITF.
