The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a world where trees and woods thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people to make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and create our vital woods and trees.

Our people are at the heart of what we do, and fundamental to our success. This role will lead on Leadership Development across the Trust; identifying needs, coaching individuals, working to develop our senior leader community, and designing and delivering a Trust wide leadership programme.

Responsibilities

The Leadership Development Manager will develop an effective framework for measuring progress and evaluating the impact of development interventions. It will also lead on the leadership development workstream on a project to embed our recently launched values and ways of working (Our Organisational Nature); working in partnership with the Project Manager to develop organisational culture and staff engagement strategies.

Working with the Learning and Development Business Partner, the successful candidate will co-create engaging learning materials that support the development of leadership skills in early talent. The role will also support and advise the Executive Leadership Team on opportunities to enhance organisational culture and performance through effective leadership development along with providing strategic people guidance to Senior Leaders, developing, and nurturing strong relationships to gain their active support for the strategic people agenda.

Job Requirements

Ideally having experience in leadership and learning or organisational development you will have previously led on development programmes and have practical experience working with complex individual, team and senior leader dynamics to shift mindsets and behaviours.
You will be genuinely passionate about behaviour and culture and confident to quickly understand the levels your colleagues are at and suggest practical solutions.

You’ll have strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams across teams to maximise impact as well as having experience working in a complex organisation and applying whole systems thinking to organisation wide challenges.
Due to your excellent communication skills, you will easily be able to form trusted partnerships with a wide range of people and the ability to coach and influence senior stakeholders and executive leaders, both internally and externally.

This is a Hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from our Head Office based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible, and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.

WHAT TO EXPECT BY JOINING A TEAM AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Joining the team you will be making your contribution to tackling the nature and climate crisis. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance, good holiday allowance and the opportunity to work flexibly from home.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
At the Woodland Trust, we want to reflect and represent the full richness of diversity in the UK. Fewer of our employees are Black, Asian or minority ethnic; disabled; from lower socio-economic backgrounds or under 25; so we are particularly keen to receive your application if you are from one or more of these groups. We can also discuss anything you may need to achieve your full potential at any stage of the process. We assess your application solely on your demonstrated suitability for the job. Nothing else.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. If you are interested, we'd encourage you to submit your application as early as possible
